7-Day Wildlife and Primate Safari
The 7-day Uganda wildlife and primate safari is a full-week expedition offering a complete experience. This trip itinerary encompasses several experiences including guided mountain gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking, and big game viewing in the savanna areas. The main destinations to explore on this 7-day tour include Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Kibale National Park.
Detailed Itinerary
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport – EBB, meet your private driver guide for a warm welcome into Uganda and after, leave the airport for relaxation at the hotel.

After breakfast, catch up with the morning birding excursion in the Mabamba wetland located along the shores of Lake Victoria about 12km west of Entebbe. A canoe/boat will be used for you to explore the rich Mabamba swamp, home to over 300 bird species. Search for amazing birds such as shoebill storks, African marsh harriers, long-toed lapwings, papyrus gonoleks, and others.
Return after half day search for shoebills and other aquatic avifaunal species. Have an early lunch and continue to Kibale National Park via the Mityana-Mubende-Fort Portal city route, 5-6 hours’ drive.

Delicious breakfast will be enjoyed in the morning, and after, set off for a guided Kibale National Park chimpanzee trekking adventure. Get briefed about chimpanzee trekking guidelines and the park guide assigned to you. In a group of six visitors, start the trek through Kibale Forest to search for chimpanzees and this will go for 2-4 hours which includes one hour for up close and personal with these unique primates while in their natural habitat.
Aside from chimpanzees, your trek also comes with other primate and bird sightings –this park holds 13 primates and 370 bird species. After the trek, you will be offered lunch at the comfort of your lodge and proceed for an afternoon swamp walk in Bigodi wetland.

Leave Kibale National Park for Queen Elizabeth National Park on a scenic drive through the Crater Lakes, and banana plantations and then proceed via Kasese town. You will be dropped off at the lodge for early lunch and relaxation. At 2:00 pm, be at Kazinga channel for a launch cruise to enjoy 2-3 hours which includes searching for aquatic species like Nile crocodiles, hippos, and birds.

After breakfast, drive to Kasenyi for a rewarding 6:00 am game drive in a 4×4 safari vehicle. With company of the park guide, search for diversity of savanna dwellers living in Kasenyi track including buffaloes, elephants, antelopes, lions, and plenty of bird species. Drive back to the safari lodge to be provided lunch and later, connect to Ishasha for short search for the tree climbing lions before you proceed to Bwindi National Park in Southwestern Uganda.

After breakfast, join other guests for a briefing about the gorilla trekking adventure and regulations. A search for mountain gorillas begins at 8:00 am and you should expect to spend between 2 and 6 hours in the forest inclusive of one hour for photography and observing gorillas in the wild. Some fitness level will be required to conquer some terrains and to keep you fit enough, carry a pack of water plus snacks.
When you return from the long day gorilla trek adventure, have adequate time relaxing at the lodge. Later, you will be visiting the Batwa pygmy community living adjacent to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and once the inhabitants of the impenetrable forest. Get to learn about the Batwa cultures and traditions, and the challenges they face after they exited the forest which used to be their home.

Day to leave Bwindi and ensure that your property is all packed in the before you set off. A pack of lunch will be provided and you begin your trip early with en-route visit to be made at the Equator crossing and finally, connect to Kampala/Entebbe.
