3 Days Gorilla Tour Rwanda

Enjoy Africa’s best gorilla trekking experience on our exclusive 3-Day Gorilla Tour Rwanda. You will track mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park and a gorilla permit costs USD 1500 for each visitor. Volcanoes National Park is home to 30% of the mountain gorillas that still thrive in the wild and has 12 fully habituated families of gorillas. This short gorilla trip to Rwanda also incorporates a Kigali city tour and the main focus will be to visit the Kigali memorial centre and other sites.

Detailed Itinerary

Arrive at Kigali International Airport (KGL), and meet your driver guide for a warm welcome into Rwanda – The Land of a Thousand Hills. A short briefing will be conducted and after, you will board a classic 4×4 safari vehicle. Set off to the Northwest to visit Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda’s oldest park created in 1925 and occupies only 160sq.km of land area. You will check in at your pre-booked gorilla safari lodge for leisure, dinner and overnight stay.

Accommodation

After a delicious breakfast, you will assemble at Kinigi where Volcanoes National Park officials will take you through the different rules to be followed when tracking mountain gorillas. At 8:00 a.m. after gorilla families and park guides have been assigned to each group of 8 visitors, you will leave the park offices for actual trekking to see gorillas. It will take you from 2-6 hours to search for these large apes, but this may depend on many factors including your speed of walking.

Upon locating a family of mountain gorillas in the wild, one hour will be given for you to observe these primates’ behaviours but at a distance of 8-10m and also take pictures. After, you will begin walking back while keeping an eye on other interesting species in this protected area including birds.

Relax at the lodge and late in the afternoon, begin your community walk. The main area of interest will be the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village. You will learn more about the unique cultures and traditions in Rwanda, and not miss cultural dances and music performances.

Accommodation

Get up early in the morning; enjoy a cup of tea/coffee at leisure. Check out and have your luggage packed in the car ready to return to Kigali capital city for a short tour. The Kigali city tour will include visiting the Kigali memorial site, shopping in the local markets and then settling for lunch before dropping off at the airport or hotel for relaxation.
